Abstract
Cell phones, PDAs and computers have transformed life by allowing people to work and stay connected virtually anywhere. People are consuming three times as much information as they did a generation ago, but does this constant stream of stimuli come at a greater cost? Unraveling the mysterious deaths of two rocket scientists in Northern Utah, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Matt Richtel will discuss how heavy technology use affects our behavior and our brains. The talk will focus on the science of distraction and focus and what it means for us as parents, policy makers and educators.
