Abstract
The era of self-publishing ebooks is here and threatens the traditional publishing methods utilizing dedicated publishing houses, editors and the peer review process. The current state of self-publishing utilizes more than text as now multimedia enhanced ebooks can be produced with embedded video and audio. How are enhanced ebooks produced, what parameters must be met to be accepted by a digital bookseller such as Apple’s iBook bookstore and what does the future look like for university presses, publishing houses, editors and the well established peer-review process in this new world of self-publishing for educational as well as personal purposes?
