Abstract
Outlining the six principles of the Individuals With Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA), this program provides background information on, insights into, and strategies to help implement IDEA. It discusses Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including working with such members of the IEP team as parents and caregivers of children with special needs. The video covers such topics as the disabilities that fall under IDEA services, steps to follow if a student needs special services, due process for disputes between parents and schools, classroom practices for general education and special needs students, and testing accommodations and teaches how to adopt an inclusive mindset, write effective IEP goals and objectives, provide input during an IEP meeting, and plan supports and interventions to address behavior problems.
