Abstract
This paper maintains that the students of the school of the present havebecome a digital culture; thus, to succeed in the contemporary classroomconsideration must be given to the unique constitution (MultipleIntelligences) of those being educated, the unique cultural and economicbackground of the same, and importantly, attention must paid to the everincreasing "digital" penchants and predilections, caused by overall changesto society. As classrooms become equipped with computers, projectors, andsound, the opportunity to integrate many of the intelligences into a singlelecture is prime. Attention is given to ways in which an educator canemploy existing classroom technology to its full potential, and in doingso, increase student engagement along the lines of the variousintelligences outlined by Howard Gardner. The second section of the paperincludes marketing research detailing the ideal amount of "interruption" toprograming in order to maximize viewer enjoyment. This concept is broughtto the classroom, boosting the confidence of the educator to "interrupt"her own lecture with: video, music, music video, art work, interpersonalrelationships, and mechanical technologies. A final section of the paperframes the reflections here presented in larger educational theory, thisallows a continuing application of the techniques presented using future technologies.
