Abstract
Piazza is a free online tutoring site that allows for instructors to setup areas where students can ask and answer questions. Normally Piazza is set-up by individual instructor and associated with specific courses. At NJIT, Instructional Technology and Media Services worked with the CAPE Tutoring Center to set-up Piazza "courses" that were loaded with multiple sections of 100 level Chemistry, Math and Physics courses. The CAPE center uses their student tutors to answer questions as they come in. This approach enables students to ask questions anytime from off campus as they work through their homework. Questions can be answered using text or Camtasia Relay videos. It also allows for students to get assistance without having to physically come to the physical tutoring center. This spring the Math and Chemistry departments have begun working with the tutors to make sure that the answers are appropriate and aligned with the way that the material is taught in those courses.
