Abstract
William Paterson University’s Cheng Library, Instruction and Research Technology department, Office of the Provost, and Technology Across the Curriculum Committee hosted this forum to clarify e-books for faculty by providing an explanation of the landscape of e-books, profiling e-book delivery systems, and evincing their pedagogical uses.
First, Special Formats Cataloger in the Cheng Library Mark Sandford describes the consumer market for e-books. Second, Electronic Resources Librarian Richard Kearney discusses academic e-books available to faculty, their collections, features and cost. Third, Marketing and Management Professor Dr. Bela Florenthal examines the pros and cons of using e-textbooks in an academic course. Finally, Sokol Mato and Scott Dunlap of the university bookstore detail various e-book options available to faculty, particularly CafeScribe, the bookstore’s e-book platform.
A short question and answer session with the audience concludes the event.
