Abstract
This program teaches how to use functional assessment techniques to determine the reasons behind challenging behaviors in children with autism spectrum disorders. Designed to offer assistance in using functional assessment techniques to determine why challenging behaviors occur. Presents a general overview of functional assessment techniques and highlights the four most common functions of challenging behavior. Specific focus is placed on the experimental analysis of challenging behavior, a method for scientifically verifying hypotheses about behavioral function. Designed to be used by Board Certified Behavior analysts (BCBAs) or similarly qualified professionals as part of a more comprehensive functional assessment course or training program.
