Abstract
The greatest cultural force in the world today is technology. It's changing our jobs, our joys, and especially our education. It's a whirlwind accelerating faster and faster. The problem is once we master one technology, another comes along to replace it. How can our education keep up with this whirlwind? The only things constant in modern digital life are the principles of how technology in general behaves. If we, and our students, can master these principles we can attain "techno-literacy." Becoming techno-literate will enable us to thrive with the constantly new, the constantly complexifying, and the never-ending distractions and opportunities of more technology. And chief among these new skills is the requirement that we become a perpetual newbie, learning how to learn all over again and again, possessing what zen practitioners call "Beginner's Mind." This is just one of a dozen literacy's I'll introduce that are needed for the acceleration of tomorrow's world.
