Abstract
A quadratic trinomial is a polynomial with three terms. In two of the terms the same variable appears, one that is raised to the second power and the other with an exponent of one. The third term in a quadratic trinomial is a constant. To factor a quadratic trinomial, the middle term is rewritten as two terms to create a four-term polynomial that can be factored by grouping. To expand the middle term, two numbers must be found that have a sum equal to the coefficient of the middle term and a product equal to the last term.
