Abstract
Codes of conduct at Fortune 500 companies have increased dramatically in recent years. And many companies now require their managers to sign a letter stating that they have no known conflicts of interest that might cause them to conduct their business in an unethical manner. It may be tempting to attribute this increased concern with ethics to a sudden, widespread improvement in morality. In all likelihood, however, the real explanation is that the corporate world has finally recognized that good ethics is good business.
