Abstract
In this talk, we look at why Michigan was once the primary center of Internet innovation in the 1990s. We then explore the "lost decade" in which most Internet companies and engineering talent left the state for more fertile ground on the east and west coast. We conclude with a look at why a recent combination of capital, community and infrastructure has led to the resurgence in Michigan high-tech startups, including my own company, DeepField.
