The Italian Artistic Legacy in Contemporary Silversmithing: A Lecture by Ubaldo Vitali, in conversation with Ulysses Grant Dietz
Abstract
On February 28th, 2013, the Inserra Chair in Italian and Italian American Studies organized and sponsored the event "The Italian Artistic Legacy in Contemporary Silversmithing: A Lecture by Ubaldo Vitali." This lecture focused on the relationship between design, technology, and modern alchemy as well as the specific legacy of Italian artistic movements in Vitali's works (for some examples, see his exhibit at the Renwick Gallery in Washington D.C.). He was joined on stage by Ulysses Grant Dietz (Senior Curator of Decorative Arts at the Newark Museum) for an engaging conversation.

This video was filmed on MSU's Carpe Diem and aired in February 2013.
