Abstract
J. Alex Halderman, an assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan, is well known for developing the "cold boot" attack against disk encryption. Halderman's research focuses on computer security and privacy, with an emphasis on real-world problems that impact society and public policy. At the 2014 Merit Member Conference, he described recent results on two such problems: discovering vulnerabilities in networked systems and resisting Internet censorship.
