Abstract
About this title: Begins with an exploration of the themes of poetry by Tang Dynasty master poets, Li Bai and Du Fu. Follows this with an introduction to the mystical writings of the Sufi poets, Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, Omar Khayyam and Hafez. The spirit of Hinduism is embodied in the lyrical devotional Bhajans of India's Mira Bai. Moving on to Japan, recalls how Matsuo Basho transformed street poetry into the sophisticated, spiritual, Haiku. The episode closes with the inspiring verse of 20th century Lebanese poet, Khalil Gibran.
