Abstract
Technology Departments must now be able to shift resources, skill sets and capital faster than ever before. The influx of consumer and mobile devices, on both the instructional and operations sides of the house, has created the need to evolve planning and practices or face the risk of being seen as ‘getting in the way.
Faculty, staff and students have given up on waiting for the IT department to give its blessing on devices and software/websites. The IT department has to drop the gatekeeper role in order to stay relevant in this consumerized technology world.
