Abstract
With the continuing push towards Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, or STEM, the library must support those literacies for students outside the classroom. Piscataway Public Library launched the first New Jersey public library makerspace in early 2013 and is now on its second Summer of Make, an eight-week program for students grades 4-12 teaching everything from circuits to sewing, botany to robots, and so on. Our goal is not only to provide the space and means for such projects, but also to engage students in thinking about the range and power of STEM in all facets of their lives.
