Abstract
This presentation describes plans under way at the New Jersey School of Architecture at New Jersey Institute Of Technology to apply hybrid learning to design education. The initiative seeks to deploy these methods to the allied courses across all professional degree programs. These courses - structures, environmental control systems, construction and history - complement the project-based nature of design studios and are required courses in design curricula and mandated by accreditation bodies. Current allied course delivery is typically through large lectures, a practice students find unfavourable. Instead, studies show students prefer a new hybrid format with the lecture and homework 'flipped.'
