Abstract
About this title: This episode provides an historical perspective on the development of neuroscience, the cross-disciplinary study of brain functionality. The "Grand Discoveries" of Neuroscience occured when microscopes enabled scientists to view neuron tissue cells and when stains were used to identify dendrites and axons. Advancing to the 20th and 21st centuries, complex neurotransmitters and neuroplasticity are the "Grand Discoveries". Also the processes involved in neurotransmission are described in detail. The final section details the complexities of the EEG, ERP, and FMRI, noting brain events that are studied by these and similar brain imaging procedures
