Creating a Hybrid Learning Course for Architectural Education
Abstract
This presentation will describe a new hybrid learning course, ARCH 229 (Structures I), at the School of Architecture at NJIT. ARCH 229 is a required undergraduate course introducing students to structural design. Scheduled for spring semester 2016, the course will use a hybrid format in which the lecture and homework are ‘flipped.’ Students will draw knowledge from a series of multi-media online modules, which they will then apply in a classroom setting. Each online module will include a discrete amount of information followed by questions. This hybrid will be the first of its kind at NJIT.
