Abstract
This program is devoted to the period between approximately 500 BC and the death of Alexander: the achievements of Pericles, Thucydides, and Plato, the shape of Greek societies, the nature of Athenian democracy; the buildings, bronze and marble sculpture, painted pottery, and writings; and the consequences of the rivalry between Syracuse and Athens.
