Abstract
This presentation will use examples drawn from 5th grade student work to illustrate the potential of university/K-6 collaborations. This case study will guide participants’ learning through a consideration of the essential question “How can teachers use a local, real-world phenomenon to engage students in inquiry-based problem solving?” Interdisciplinary opportunities were emphasized via lab experiences, research, and development of evidence-based claims and communication of design solutions.
